All contestants must reside in the 97.7 WCTY listening area (New London and Windham counties of Connecticut and Washington county in Rhode Island.)
All contestants must be amateurs with no professional experience, meaning that they cannot be making their primary living as a singer.
This is a country music talent contest and no other music formats will be considered.
Music selections must be longer than 2 minutes 20 seconds long, but not longer than 4 minutes.
This contest is for individual talent and duets. No groups will be considered. An individual talent may have no more than two non-electric acoustic instrument (guitar, fiddle, etc) players providing music for their performance if they choose not to sing to tracks.
All contestants must submit a DVD copy or VHS of their intended entry to WCTY between January 5, 2007, and February 1, 2007. Entries received later than February 1, 2007, at 5 PM will not be considered.

The contest and/or WCTY is not responsible for any lost, misdirected, or misplaced entries. Any entries received by WCTY will become the sole property of WCTY and will not be returned.
All contestants will be responsible for their own music both in their entry and for any final performance. This can be a kareoke CD disc, a live accompaniment of no more than two non-electric acoustic instrument players providing music only, or provide their own accompaniment. Any music a contestant uses will be provided at their own expense and contestant will be liable for any licensing fees or expenses. The contestant is solely responsible for any music used that is under copyright or ownership of some other party and will indemnify all organizers and sponsors of this contest for any infringement. All Kareoke disc must be legal copies. While they will make their best efforts to return
any media provided, WCTY or any contest organizer or sponsor will not be liable for any media supplied.
Initial judging of all the entries received by the February 1, 2007, deadline will be done by WCTY personnel. WCTY will select finalists to perform their entry at a March 10, 2007, show (hereinafter “final show”). WCTY will be the sole judge at this phase and any and all decisions are final. All finalists selected must be able to perform their entry on the evening of March 10, 2007. No substitutions will be allowed.
Contestants who are selected to appear at the final show will be announced on the
air during the morning of February 16, 2007 at approximately 8:10am.
Contestants who are selected to appear at the final show will be notified by phone following the announcement of the finalists on air.
Selected contestants will be given an opportunity to do at least one rehearsal at the Plainfield High School Auditorium during the week preceding the final show. Instructions and scheduling for this rehearsal will be included in a mail notification. Attending a rehearsal is mandatory.
The Plainfield Rotary Club, 97.7 WCTY, the Plainfield High School and/or any other sponsor or organizer of this contest will make reasonable efforts to provide staging, lighting, and sound equipment necessary for a contestant's performance at the final show, but will not be responsible or liable for any failures and/or inadequacies in doing so.
Contestants will be given instructions on how to submit their final performance music in their notification letter. The contestant is responsible for any media or music accompaniment failure during the final show. Any restart of the performance at the final show will be at the sole discretion of the final show's emcee.
The order of performance of the final show will be randomly selected by organizers of the contest.
Judging of the final show will be done by individuals selected by WCTY and the Plainfield Rotary Club. All Judges’ decisions will be final. Contestants will be notified of final show winners at the end of the evening on March 10, 2007. Any prizes will be awarded at that time. Prize amounts vary and are subject to availability and attainability.
The Plainfield Rotary Club, 97.7 WCTY, the Plainfield High School and/or any other sponsor or individual or corporate organizer of this contest or any employees or volunteers of said groups or individuals are not liable for any injury (either physical or emotional) and/or death to any participant involved with any part of this contest.
All decisions of the judges about any part of these rules and regulations are final. This includes, but is not limited to, interpretation of these rules and decisions about any situation not covered by these rules or regulations.
Any contestant submitting an entry into this contest agrees with and will abide with all the above rules and regulations and any decisions of the judges. Any other participant accompanying any contestant also agrees with and will abide by any of the above rules and regulations and decisions of the judges.
